CONGRATS TO VHS BOWLERS!!! March 16, 2009

Vermilion Boys are the North Shore Bowling Conference (NSBC) CHAMPS!

Seniors Bryan Buckosh, Jake Casto & DJ Poherence were named team MVP’s. The boys team was awarded a state berth and came in 14th at State!

The Vermilion Girls bowling team were recognized as well. Awards received by the girls: Top Team Series (2,068); Top Team Game (1,126). Valerie Piskur in the top 3 of conference averages with 184 avg. Team’s MVP Cortney Tedford! The Girls Junior Varsity bowlers were conference champs as well!!!

LOCAL ATHLETES *** COLLEGE SIGNINGS February 5, 2009

Two Firelands High School senior girls, Rachael Melendez & Elizabeth Kozlowski, each signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Division I colleges.

Rachael signed with Butler in Indiana and Elizabeth signed with Western Carolina!

Firelands senior, Mitch Haag will continue his career as a Falcon as he signed to play football at Notre Dame College of Ohio for its first football season.

Vermilion Senior, Derek Hoebing signed a letter of intent to play D-I football at Michigan State.

Mike Virgin also signed Wednesday to play D-II football at Tiffin University.

Congratulations to these and all of the other area athletes who will be furthering their athletic careers at a collegiate level!

Tim Clark, Vermilion Senior, will be continuing his baseball career with Cleveland State University!
